2024 Tri Services TT Women's Training Academy Report

This was the first Women's Academy ran and hosted by the RAFTTA, led by Darcie RAF who was also lead Coach for the duration.

In addition, UKAFTT (United Kingdom Armed Forces Table Tennis) aim is to run this Women's Academy annually to encourage female participation in the Sport across all 3 Services.

This year we had a total of 10 enter, which UKAFTT are content about. However, we do not wish to stop there and UKAFTT are always looking to increase our numbers for this in years to come.

The format of the Women's Academy was Training on Day 1 and Day 2 with Matches on Day 3, to give people a chance to put to practice what they had learnt in Training under a friendly match environment. The Matches incorporated fun style challenge types with games at the end of the day to round the Women's Academy off, so there was no need of a Competition.

The overall aim was to get Ladies who have and haven’t played before participating in the Sport of Table Tennis, where it gave the chance for all 3 Services to socialise as one force rather than individual forces. The main thing was to have fun and try something new and it seemed like everyone enjoyed it, where some have since competed at their Service Championships which is great to see.

Many thanks to all the players that took part and to those that helped to run this Event, we look forward to seeing new and old faces at the Women's Academy next year; which will be hosted by us the Army @ the Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre (AGSC)
